Insanity Max 30 is one of the best workouts I have ever done in my life. For those who don’t know what I am talking about yet, watch this first before you continue reading:
Cool, ay? It’s a 60-day fitness program and I think it’s the very best workout for travellers because you can do it anywhere on the road. You probably won’t workout on the road every day, after all you are on tour to seek adventures and escape the daily routine but it’s the most convenient workout to do if you are looking for some exercise and feel like doing something good for your mind and body.
You get what I mean. Sometimes (depending on the duration of my travels), I feel lazy and unhealthy, especially because in some countries I don’t have access to cook for myself and I keep eating out (most of the times, it’s very yummy and cheap but for sure not the best thing to do to keep your beach body healthy).
WIth this particular workout, no equipment is needed, you don’t need to sign up for any gym memberships – just get the program, copy the DVDs onto your external hard drive or onto your laptop and you are good to go. It will always be with you, no matter where you go. You can do it EVERYWHERE you go. So, there are NO excuses!
I first got into ‘Insanity’ through my flatmate George, who introduced the fitness program for me in summer 2014. I had to get trained up for Kilimanjaro. It’s the PERFECT WORKOUT to get prepared to climb the highest freestanding mountain in the world – promise. On top of that, I was wearing a training mask when I went for runs and bike rides. I didn’t have any problems on the mountain – unlike some of my friends. I was physically and mentally strong,
A lot of resistance work is involved which trains you up decently and depending on your performance, you will burn between 400 and 1000 calories per workout. The workouts will only take either 30 minutes (Insanity Max 30) or 25 minutes (BEACHBODY FOCUS T25).
Some of the moves are:
- Pedal / Power Lunges
- Ski Abs / Push-Up Jacks / In & Out Abs / Oblique Push-Ups
- Power Strikes
- Frog Jumps
- Football Runs
- Cross Jacks
- Jog in Place
- Arms Up Jumping Jacks
- 1-2-3 Heismans
- Side-to-Side Jump Ropes
- Arms Out High Knees
- Switch Kicks
- Hit the Floor
- Side-to-Side Floor Hops
- mountain climbers
You can also choose to do the original Insanity version. Every workout will last about 50 minutes. There are 150 different moves you will perform in the original Insanity workout. Find out for yourself which one is your favourite and push through. Some are designed to enhance your cardio and others for strength.
It’s addictive. It’s so addictive and the results you will get are incredibly insane. I couldn’t even stop doing it on my way to Africa before I climbed Kilimanjaro. I was working with the charity, Dig Deep, in Kenya weeks prior the climb and I could manage to motivate some of the charity members to join me at night while we were living in a local school.
Currently, I’m pushing through Insanity Max 30 and it looks like that will be my first time I will be doing it without any interruptions. 3 more weeks to go and I am through!
(Update 2015: DONE IT! AIIII!!)
